Janice Friedman: Piano
Based in New York City, pianist Janice Friedman has made her living entirely in the music world for over two decades. Janice has performed in venues from Carnegie Hall and the JFK Arts Center to the Blue Note, Birdland, Smoke, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Sweet Rhythm and Iridium and has wowed audiences at Jazz Festivals worldwide. After performing at the JVC Jazz Festival, NY Times Jazz Critic, John Wilson, hailed her playing as the highlight of the program. He wrote that her “explosive … piano playing carries the aura and variety of a big band.”

She has joined musical forces with the likes of Joe Lovano, Lew Tabakin, and Billy Higgins. Janice has had the honor of performing on Marian McPartland’s radio broadcast, “Piano Jazz.” and has recorded with such varied musicians as Milt Hinton, Warren Vache’, Claudio Roditi, and Judi Silvano. She has been one of the few women ever to tour with the great Woody Herman Orchestra and has even joined The Cab Calloway and Dorsey Orchestras.
